Looks like a crazy party!!

As most of you will probably already know, the English version of Wikipedia has gone down for the day in protest of SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) in the US. THESE THINGS ARE BAD! Watch this video to learn more:
There are loads of places to go for more information but heres a link to one. I also thought I’d also post a few images of other sites online that are raising awareness including Google, Reddit, Wordpress and Mozilla.

I can’t stop listening to this song! Thanks to @bakerdotjames for introducing me to Kimbra which led to this :).
About.me is a great little web site that serves as a kind of online business card. It gives you one simple page on which you can write a quick bio and link to all of your online profiles. You can even get creative with a custom background image. There are some really great examples out there! Take a look at their into video and give it a go! It’s great if you don’t have a personal blog or website.
Don’t forget to add me to your directory if you join! :)

Sega just announced that Sonic CD will be released in late 2011 on iOS, XBLA, PSN and PC. The game will feature “enhanced widescreen graphics, special iOS features, Xbox LIVE Achievements, PSN Trophies, PC Achievements and more”.
Sega’s previous ports to iOS have been, let’s be honest, sub-par. They’ve basically done the bare minimum to get their catalogue on the App Store. So the “enhanced widescreen graphics” are promising. Also, Sonic CD is the only Sonic platformer that I’ve never actually played so I’m definitely looking forward to playing it.
Sonic CD will be shown at PAX this weekend.
As I posted last week, I recently bought a Nintendo 3DS. And in that post I mentioned the most successful game on the platform currently is The Legenf of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Just in case anyone isn’t familiar with the game, it’s a remake of the N64 classic that is commonly refered to as the greatest game ever made. The upgraded visuals are stunning. Now there is a campaign running to get it’s direct sequel, Majora’s Mask, the same treatment. While it wasn’t as popular as Ocarina it’s built up quite a cult fan-base. Personally I’d love to see Operation Moonfall become a success so go over to the website and give them a hand. They recommend sending this message to nintendo(at)noa.nintendo.com. Dear Nintendo, As a fan of The Legend of Zelda series, I simply wanted to voice my support and interest in the creation of Majora’s Mask 3D. While we do not want to deter from the creation of a new Zelda game for the 3DS, we still would like to have Majora’s Mask given the same treatment Ocarina of Time has gotten. We feel that not only would it see strong sales from the large following the game has garnered over the years, but several of the new fans created with Ocarina of Time 3D would certainly be interested in purchasing its direct sequel. In addition, it would do the game a great justice to be brought back for a second life, and that such a game would be more accepted today than it was at the time of its previous release. In the meantime the game is available on the Wii virtual console if you want to check it out.

The other day I found out that EA has finally brought The Sims to Facebook in a big way.The Sims Social shares many traits with the full game such as character customisation and taking care of your sim, but cuts out a lot of the building and career based game play. This is in an effort to focus more on social interaction between you and your friends. The one thing I found quite annoying about the game is that you only have a certain amount of ‘energy’ that you can use on tasks before it runs out. To get more energy you have to spam your friends, wait for ages or, of course, buy some with real money. Hey, they have to make their money somehow! Overall it’s quite fun and very well made, but not a scratch on the full Sims. We’ll see if this can challenge FarmVille for the top spot.

Yesterday Marvel screened some previously unreleased footage of The Avengers at the Disney ‘D23′ expo. I’ve looked online for the footage but it was an exclusive for the expo attendees so we probably won’t see it for a few weeks. But here is a quick written description from SlashFilm:
It begins with Loki being locked in a large, circular glass room that’s very technologically advanced. Nick Fury walks in, presses some buttons on a touch screen and warns him: “In case it’s unclear, if you try to escape, you even scratch on the glass, it’s 30,000 feet straight down.” We see the floor open up revealing we’re on the Helicarrier. Loki says it’s an impressive cage, but not for him, and challenges Fury by asking how desperate is he to do what he has done. Fury retorts by saying that Loki has brought his world to the brink of war and “you kill because it’s fun, so you made me very desperate.” Loki taunts him by saying Fury was so close to true power. He had the tesseract (aka the Cosmic Cube) and but now he, Loki, will remind you what real power is. Fury responds by saying, “Tell me if real power wants a magazine.”
Meanwhile, as Loki is delivering that speech, we see The Avengers all sitting around a table with Thor standing in the middle (this is the footage from the brief teaser trailer) watching Loki on a monitor. It ends with Bruce Banner, wearing purple, (Mark Ruffalo) saying “He really grows on you doesn’t he?”
Cut to Nick Fury explaining that S.H.I.E.L.D. had an idea to bring together a group of extraordinary people who could fight the battles we never could. As he’s saying this, we cut around what the Helicarrier, seeing various S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and such.
Next we see Tony Stark behind a bar and he says, “Let’s do a head count.” This is all intercut with footage. “We’ve got two deadly assassins,” Black Widow and Hawkeye on a bridge next to a crashed car. “A demi god,” Thor looks up menacingly, then we see him jumping in slow motion swinging his hammer at Captain America. “A legend that actually lives up to the legend,” this is Captain America, who we see looking at his new suit and jumping away from an explosions. And Stark ends with “and somehow you managed to piss them all off.” The reveal is he’s talking to Loki. Loki says, “I have an army.” Stark says “We have a Hulk.” We then see a transforming leg and the new Hulk screaming into camera. Title card.

Sounds good to me! Can’t wait to see it in a few weeks hopefully. The Avengers is due out Summer next year, May 4th.
